Lore

Lord Frieza, the Emperor of Universe 7 and commander of the Frieza Force, is the main antagonist of the Dragon Ball series. Frieza was born as a mutant of his species with a titanic power level, much like his father: King Cold. Recognizing his son’s tremendous potential, King Cold gave Frieza control of the Cold Force (now Frieza Force) and introduced the Saiyan’s to their new master. Fearing the rise of the Legendary Super Saiyan, Frieza planned the demise of the Saiyan race. In one great blow, Emperor Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta and sent the Saiyan race to the brink of extinction. Eventually Frieza’s tyrannical greed and lust for the dragon balls led him to Planet Namek, where he crossed paths with Goku – one of the last remaining Saiyans. Frieza’s worst fears realized, he tasted defeat for the first time at the hands of the Legendary Super Saiyan Son Goku. Lord Frieza, forever haunted by his defeat on Namek, has made several returns to power and constantly seeks to exact his revenge on Goku.

Playstyle

In Dragon Ball FighterZ, Frieza is an extremely mobile zoning-based character that is equipped with one of the largest tool-kits in the game. Frieza can control space and apply pressure in ways many characters cannot, having access to safe full screen normals and specials. One of Frieza’s most powerful abilities is Golden Frieza:  a transformation that increases his damage, speed, movement options, and combo potential for 20 seconds. In season 3 Golden Frieza will stack with the new Limit Break mechanic and can be extended by entering sparking blast, giving him incredible comeback potential. Due to Frieza’s varied kit, combo structure, and assists he can provide exceptional team support in any position (most notably point and anchor). Please make sure to give Lord Frieza a try in Season 3!
