Son Goku is the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball series and is the face of Dragon Ball FighterZ. Born as Kakarot to parents Bardock and Gine, he was sent to Earth as a baby to escape planet Vegeta’s destruction at the hands of the galactic tyrant, Frieza. He was found and named by martial artist Son Gohan, and later mentored by the Turtle Hermit, Master Roshi. Goku has a ceaseless hunger for battle and strives to be the greatest warrior he can possibly become. Goku’s fervent defense of Earth and his friends eventually led him to planet Namek, where he crossed paths with Frieza while searching for the Dragon Balls. In the most desperate battle of his life, Goku unleashed the legendary power of the Super Saiyan on Frieza in response to the destruction of his life-long friend, Krillin. Son Goku would go on to master the Super Saiyan transformation in its entirety and remains Earth and Universe 7’s most vigilant protector.
Playstyle
In Dragon Ball FighterZ, Goku (Super Saiyan) rewards strong fundamental play, has a full range of tools to contest at almost any range, and pumps out tremendous amounts of damage. Goku has access to a combo structure that doesn’t require the use of assists but will still be greatly enhanced by them. As a result, Goku (Super Saiyan) has had a very rich history as an anchor in Dragon Ball FighterZ and remains a strong choice in season 3.
